Sidrotun Naim, Ph.D., M.P.A

Sidrotun Naim is a faculty member at Surya University, Indonesia. Her fields are biotechnology and public policy. For the Government of Indonesia, she serves as an expert for the Ministry of Marine and Fisheries Affairs (2013-2015), and presently for the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority.
She completed a PhD from the University of Arizona in Environmental Microbiology, with two additional MS degrees in Environmental Science and Microbiology & Pathobiology. When graduated with a Master in Public Administration and Public Policy from Harvard University, she received the Lucius N. Littauer Award for Academic Excellence and Public Service. Previously, she finished an MS degree in Marine Biology from the University of Queensland and a BSc in Biology from Bandung Institute of Technology. Her academic backgrounds and professional experiences in industry, NGO, and academics, have complemented one another, to make science more relevant for the public. Dr Naim won the 2012 UNESCO-L’Oréal for Women in Science. She is a mother of one son.
